The Project Environment

You can interact with your building and its digital twin in the project environment.
If you click 'Open' on a project or click on a project pin, you are taken into that project's environment. This is where you can manage your day-to-day activities on the project and will spend most of your time managing your project.

The Twinview Project Enviroment Interface
Upon initial access to your project, it may take up to 10 seconds to fully load the model into the 3D view. However, subsequent load times will be significantly quicker due to caching. Please note that the model's loading speed is also influenced by the complexity of the project and the speed of your internet connection.

The User Interface

The main project environment UI

The 3D View (Highlighted in Yellow)

This is the main 3D view from which you can navigate and interact with your building model (see 3D Navigation).

The View Toolbar (Highlighted in Orange)

Tools to interact with the 3D view include section and dimension tools.

Main Menu (Highlighted in Red)

Here, you can access the various features of Twinview, depending on your package subscription level.

Top Bar (Highlighted in Blue)

This shows any notifications and allows you to edit your profile and log out of Twinview.

Information Palette (Highlighted in Green)

The information palette contains various tabs, such as Data, Views, Options and Models—the data tab changes to show data on any object you select in the 3D view.

The Information Pallet

The information pallet is where key information is displayed, along with items helpful in managing your project daily.

Data Tab

The Data Tab shows information about the objects or assets you have selected. If you have no object or asset selected, the data shown in this panel is project data.

Views Tab

The Views Tab shows any saved views in the project. Clicking on the eye icon next to each view will teleport you to that view, and clicking on the image or information will open the view settings to allow you to edit the view.

Options Tab

The Options Tab shows the design options in your project, and you can create new ones or edit existing ones.

Models Tab

The models tab shows the models loaded into your project and their status. Clicking on the light bulb icon toggles the model on or off temporarily.

The View Toolbar

The view toolbar contains useful tools that allow you to interact with the 3D model and adjust various settings related to the 3D view.

Orbit Constraints Button

This button allows you to toggle the orbit constraints between orbit and Free Orbit. You should generally leave this set to 'Orbit' for typical building projects and standard navigation.

Pan Button

Clicking this button allows you to pan the 3D view, like pressing and holding the middle mouse button. This button is useful when working from laptops without a mouse or multi-touch trackpad.

Zoom Button

Clicking this button allows you to zoom in and out on the 3D view, like pressing and scrolling the middle mouse button. This button is useful when working from laptops without a mouse or multi-touch trackpad.

First Person Button

This button enables 'First-person mode,' which allows you to walk around the building in a first-person view similar to computer game-style navigation. This button toggles between standard navigation and first-person navigation.

Camera Interactions button

The camera interactions button opens up the options to adjust the camera settings, such as the Field of View, Focal Length, and Roll. These settings are generally managed automatically; however, you can change them to achieve a particular view or look.

The Measure tool

The measure tool opens various options for taking measurements in the 3D model. For instructions on using these tools, please see Creating a Dimension.

Sectioning Analysis Tool

The section analysis tool allows you to cut temporary sections through your 3D model using a plane or a section box. For instructions on using these tools, please see Creating a Section.

Explode Tool

This option temporarily expands your model, allowing you to explore a densely packed 3D model and making objects and assets easier to see.

Model Browser

This opens the model browser popup, allowing you to search for and mass-select objects or systems using the model's built-in data structure. For instructions on using these tools, please see The Models Tab.

3D View Settings

This button allows you to change the default 3D viewer settings. You can adjust the appearance, navigation, and lighting settings. These are user settings; you are the only one who can see the changes.

Full-Screen View

This expands the 3D view to a full-screen model—press' esc' to return to normal.

Translate Tool (Move tool)

This tool temporarily moves objects or assets in the 3D view. When used with the 'Design Options Tool,' it can also permanently move objects or assets.

Rotate Tool

Similar to the translate (move) tool, this tool temporarily rotates objects or assets in the 3D view. When used with the 'Design Option Tool,' it can also permanently rotate objects or assets.

Reset Tool

This tool resets the 3D view to the default home view. It has the same functionality as the home button on the view cube.

Viewer Settings

The viewer Settings tool allows you to adjust some of the Twiview 3D viewer settings, such as refining the visual appearance of the view, but also set some default input settings, such as mouse zoom speed/direction, file units,

The Viewer settings are persistent between projects and saved in your browser's local cache. This means that any changes you make will apply across all projects for the browser you are using.
If you want to restore the setting to its default state, click the 'Restore all default settings' button at the bottom of the modal window.
